this server constantly shows the blower vacillating between 8650
and 10050,
all within Normal if you believe the Admin Monitor readout. But my
backup
Xserve (Dual 2.0 G5, same OS) constantly reads between 4900 and
6000. Any
reason for this huge fan discrepancy?
I had the very same problem here with some (not all) of my (otherwise
identical) Xserve Cluster Nodes. Resetting the PMU didn't help, too,
and the firmware on the Xserves was up-to-date. Eventually, the
problem disappeared with the upgrade of the Xserves From Mac OS X
Server 10.3.9 to 10.4.2.
