I have an old Xserve running OS X Server 10.2.4 that simply works as a file server with Apple File Service enabled. It has been running 24/7 for about 4 years minus restarts for basic maintenance and adding additional hardware, etc.
After my last restart, I noticed that on client computers (OS X 10.3.x and OS X 10.4.x) that connect to the server the available space for the shares does not get updated when files are added or deleted. They do refresh directly on the Xserve but the only way a client computer could see the new value would be to completely disconnect from the Xserve and then reconnect. Once they would do this, they could see the new value but, again, that value would not be updated until they would disconnect/reconnect.
I have restarted the Xserve several times since this occurred and the issue still persists. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs that would indicate the problem but, obviously, one exists.
If this sounds familiar to anyone and/or if someone could point me in the right direction to find a solution, it would be much appreciated.
