I have restarted the Xserve several times since this occurred and the issue still persists. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs that would indicate the problem but, obviously, one exists.

If this sounds familiar to anyone and/or if someone could point me in the right direction to find a solution, it would be much appreciated.

Considering the number of fixes between 10.2.4 and 10.2.8 is there any important reason that it's not at 10.2.8 ? If you have reasons not to run 10.4, you might want to think about getting 10.3 (running 10.3.9) while (if ?) you still can.
