Re: Multiple IP addresses on a Mac mini?

If you have a monitor and a keyboard on your mini... Go to the Network Settings, select, from the popup, Show "Network Port Configurations" and duplicate "Built-in Ethernet". Then select the new port from the Show popup and put your settings in.

Use Server Admin to set up a web site for your new address. There's no need to open ports. The incoming HTTP requests will tell Apache which site to serve. You will have to tell your DNS service about the new ip address and name.

Now, you can also set up a bunch of sites with the same IP address and apache will figure out which one is which. That's how all the cheap, shared web hosting works. Then you only need to make sure the DNS is set up so that you have you domain names set to that one address. Again, use Server Admin to set up the sites all using the same ip number but different domain names.

Nice to hear I'm not the only one with a mini running OS X Server!

Hi all,

I've purchased a Mac mini and installed 10.4 server on it recently.
It's a standalone server and will be serving a couple of web sites.

I'd like to install SSL certificates for 2 to 3 of these web sites,
which means I'd need additional IP addresses; The question is, how do
I bind multiple IPs to a single network card?

I recall reading on the Apple forums that this can be done by opening
additional ports on the server, but some also advised against it
because of potential security issues...

I'm really new to Tiger servers (or any servers for that matter), so
it would be great if you guys and girls could send me some advices :)

Thanks in advance !
