Hi Dan,

if you mean a 'fsck -yf' in single user mode, that was far away, three
month if I remember right. I didn't know anything of "rebuilding" a file
system. I have two books about Mac OS X _Server_ (with some chapters
about XRaid), but none of them telling me things like: "You must rebuild
your file system every fullmoon or something like that?"

Dan, I check/repair permissions after every software install or update.
Also I clone the system drive after such actions. And for stability I
have split "system" and "data" on different drives, so a crash will only
affect one of them. The system drive is a mirror and I did backups as
described (clone). The data files sitting on the XRaid are synced (a
patched rsync) to a data center out of the office.

That's all 'service' what I'm doing with my filesystems, did I missing
something and if so, can you point to the right places? Or what exactly
do you mean with rebuilding the filesystem?

After your answer to my post, I've searched the web with "OS X rebuild
file system HFS Xraid", but I only get 'noise' - that's why this answer
has took so long.

Have a nice weekend.
