Hi Phil,
On the Intel Xserves, you can only make remote
connections with Server Monitor through the LOM port,
which is actually a secondary ip on the ethernet port.
Open Server Monitor on the localhost, select Configure
Local Machine from the Server menu. Use the newly
configured ip address and lom username and password to
connect remotely with Server Monitor.
Better yet, try reading a great article about lom at
