If you're going to be pedantic, you've got to do it right.
There is no "LOM NI". You can configure an Xserve to use either of the
built-in NIs for LOM (with a separate IP address). As it has been
previously discussed, link aggregation / bonding of the two built-in NIs
will make the LOM IP unreachable. Server Monitor will only connect to the
LOM IP on an Intel Xserve, so it cannot work in this case.
The "solutions" that have been discussed so far are:
1. Add another NI and bond it with one of the built-in NIs (leaving one NI
unbonded for LOM).
2. Don't use LOM or Server Monitor.
