Hi:
What is the best practice for setting up two servers in two different locations?
I thought the following setup: (the VPN link is on a 1~2 Mbit/s line, not very fast)
Main office
OD Master
DNS - Primary zone
Home folders for people at the main office
Branch Office
P2P VPN to main office.
OD Replica
DNS - Secondary zone.
Home folders for people at the branch office
Now, the question is how to copy or sync a few home folders of people that will be working in both places?
Should I use rsync every night to move some home folders back and forth?
Any other idea?
Why not just use Portable Home Directories? User A takes their portable home from Main to Branch. Small background syncs can be used for documents that they are using on a daily basis. When they come back to the Main office, perform a full sync and everything is synchronized back onto the server.
I don't know if you've tried this or have specific concerns, but it should accomplish what it appears you are looking for.
