Two separate issues here.

One, work on getting ssh keys working. Try following these directions:

I have ssh keys working. What I wanted to know is why key-based logins also fail when "when passwords won't work".

Two, why not start a different topic/thread about your PasswordService issue - since it is - a totally different and separate issue ?

Check the archives and you can see I've asked about about it a few times. So far I have not received any useful info, which is not too surprising since log files don't tell me anything after the fact and I can't get into the box while it's happening, so my questions have been a bit vague. My previous message was asking about ssh key-based logins failing "when passwords won't work". I just used PasswordService as an example of that. So not sure why I should start a new thread.
