keeping their validity, when this is possible, that is when there is
correspondence in uids (or even usernames, I don't care if you don't
like it) between the machines.
No it in fact munges them here, exposing them since you can't write a
com.apple.system EA. Otehrwise it wouldn't be able to copy them
properly for the remote system.
Users are *not* identified by names. Ever. Anywhere.
