In my own testing, a group ACE is preserved across systems, but

Workgroup Manager's Inspector) to be identical. Without setting a
matching UUID, the synced directory shows " <UNKNOWN>" for the ACE
(ie: at the target/destination).
and if the group has no UUID (do not know if this is possible on
Server using the Workgroup Manager) it will work too.
Attempting the same for a user-based ACE did not appear to work for
a at first, but attempting the same after a few minutes at least
gives an appearance (illusion ?) of working. I'm not saying this is
a "good idea" by any means, as matching UUIDs across disparate
systems seems completely counter to the purpose of a "Universally"
unique identifier. Perhaps the an exception could be an OD master
and its slave.
except that according Apple this should work no matter what the UUIDs
are. I think they did not really understand the problem.
What puzzles me is that another test I received seemed to indicate
that Apple is right, at least for Client to Client. So I am asking
you (R.T.): do you confirm that your machines run on local netinfo
domains? And in that case, can you check that the UUID exist and are
different?
Also, david, did you check scp and tar too?
Thanks
