Okay, so, replying to myself :-), and following advice in another thread I get:

sovereign:/Users/rah root# changeip -checkhostname

Primary address     = 68.167.57.91

Current HostName    = sovereign.shipwright.com
DNS HostName        = sovereign.shipwright.com

The names match. There is nothing to change.

So, why are people thrashing me in SMTP about an FQDN?
