>From your top command it looks like your spam scanning is what is causing
the server to take a hit.
I would suggest checking the clam config
Most spam messages are small really small, the problem is so is the message
you are sending.
In the amavisd.conf file (you can find it here /etc/spam/clamav ) you are
using 10.4?
You will see this config near the end of the file
$sa_mail_body_size_limit = 64*1024; # don't waste time on SA if mail is
larger
# (less than 1% of spam is > 64k)
# default: undef, no limitations
You could change this to say 8*1024 (or 8k) but you will probably get more
spam) this setting will only effect spam assassin's checking of the mail it
should by my understanding still check all the RBL
