Portable Home Folder Problem

I'm using Portable Home Folders to maintain a synchronized backup of user
data on an Xserve RAID which I backup nightly. I only synchronize the
users Documents and Library folders.

I've been a little concerned that my backups have been larger than what
they should be. I took a look into these folders and there is a lot more
there than just the two folders I mentioned above. There are other User
created folders and other OS folders in the sync'd folders on the RAID. I
know at one point during my initial setup of this I had more items
synchronizing but I stopped doing that after a week or so. I'm wondering
if these folders are left over from this time period and if they were
never automatically deleted during the next sync.

Does the OS not delete files and folders from the network home folders
that were removed from the sync preferences?

What would be the best way to resolve this? Take one or two users at a
time (after a recent full backup), remove their portable home folder from
within Workgroup Manager, delete the folder from the Terminal, recreate it
with Workgroup Manager and then tell them to sync next time based on their
local home folder?

Chris
