Perhaps someday Apple will work to allow Mac OS X Server
virtualization on its own hardware...

I sure hope so.....as much as I dislike Windows, I'm starting to
collapse my single-use Mac Servers to Windows so I can VM them. I
hate to say it, but I need the space in my server rooms and I need
to use less power.
So then you should just be able to collapse the services onto a
single server that runs multiple services.
Not having a VM solution is hurting Apple, or will eventually.
Not as much. This isn't Windows where you run multiple servers
because you can barely keep any given server up so you spread them
out so you can still have a server that works.
