AD/OD and nested group issue

Hello All. I'm new to OS X server but reasonable familiar with OS X.
I've been working at getting OS X server integrated with our AD
server. I followed the how-to from bombich.com and think I have it
working. I can see/add AD users and groups to groups that I create in
OD. However it doesn't seem to work as I thought it was supposed to.

The Issue is that I can add user(s) from AD and it works fine. However
when I add an AD group that contains the same users, they are not
managed. By managed, I mean that I am just changing the location of
the dock to verify that it is working.

What works
1) Create the OD group "AD_Users" in workgroup manager
2) Add AD user j_doe & Save
3) set preferences on the group to have dock on the right.
4) Login to a 10.4.9 computer joined to AD/LDAP3
5) The dock is on the right

What does not work
1) Delete and re-create an OD group in workgroup manager
2) Add AD group "Domain Users" which j_doe is a member of and save
3) set preferences on the group to have dock on the left.
4) Login to a 10.4.9 computer joined to AD/LDAP3
5) The dock is at the bottom and not managed.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? I'd love to learn MUCH
more about OS X server so I guess this will be my first step.

Thanks!
Aaron Robinson
