Hello All,

We are considering making a purchase of an Xserve but I'm wondering if the built in or default SATA controller supports raid 5, or do you have to buy the Xserve Raid card for it? From what I can tell it looks like you have to buy the raid card.

In reality you rarely want a hw raid 5 card b/c of the power off / write cache problem.

But no the XServe doesn't do raid 5, but OS X does do raid 0, 1, 10, 01 in sw.
