can you elaborate further on this problem in case I am not understanding correctly...my servers are on UPS power with generator backup.

In reality you rarely want a hw raid 5 card b/c of the power off /

But no the XServe doesn't do raid 5, but OS X does do raid 0, 1, 10,
01 in sw.
