I have been using OSX server to host my school admin and online
website for a number of years. I have become aware over the last
few days that teachers at my school have become frustrated by the
inability to authenticate to the server. I am using the
authentication built-in to the osx server webserver. We have a
deadline for student reports at the moment and below is an email I
have just received that puts the problem in a nutshell. I am unsure
what is going on here and wondered whether anyone could give me an
idea of where to start as with a Friday deadline teachers need me
to find a fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is twice that this has happened to me now. I am in the middle
of doing a page of reports when it will suddenly not allow me to
save and asks for my password. I duly put this in and find that it
will not accept it. Needless to say the reports on that page are
lost.
Teachers are all using Safari to access the website. I believe if
we become aware of the problem, we put another username and
password in for them, it authenticates and they can continue
working. We have tried restarting the users computer, quitting and
restarting safari etc. The user can usually log back in after an
unknown period.
This list isn't a Help Desk. You're going to have to do some
investigation on your end, determine what's happening and then
provide some details based on what's occurring. You're also going to
need to explain a bit about your configuration.
Have you examined your logs, increased debugging levels accordingly,
tried it yourself, et cetera?
