Re: Config Windows client to use local SUS

Brian:

I was at a seminar with John DeTroye recently and he said that it was not
possible to host third-party updates... I don't think you would be able to
get the WSUS updates to download to the server either.

WSUS is a free product and you can run it easily on a mid-range desktop as
it does not take a lot of horse power. I would also suggest that you place
that box externally facing if you have mobile clients with laptops so that
they get the updates on the road. I have been using WSUS for roughly four
years and found it to be an excellent tool for tracking machines as well
as pushing updates out that are tested and approved.

Config Windows client to use local SUS

Has anyone ever come across any documentation or figured this out?

I want to have the few windows machines we have on our LAN use our
local SUS.

TIA,
Brian
