also,

if running XserveG5: next to a Xserve Intel 1st Gen , and you are looking at the front they both have firewire, however, the display lights are different.

xserve G5 will have two continues rows of lights, even for dual processor;

o o o o o o o o
o o o o o o o o

Xserve intel will have two rows and two columns
o o o o   o o o o
o o o o   o o o o

these are only visible when power is on.
