extension file!

hi,

how can i create an extension file that loads the network driver for hardware(
PCI adapter ) and using what tool ?
Is there any script for writing extension file ?

What is the function of extension file? how can i create it?

what is a file with .r,.rsrc extension how are they creted ?

with every (Ethernet)driver compiled using codewarrior is it necessary that an
extension file has to written ?
