Why does this matter? It is trivially easy to prune other applications out of the display and it is often good to know why you are losing the CPU, something that Shark can tell you, but gprof will not.


The bottom line for me is that prof is very easy to use and gives me
enough information to speed up my program.  These other methods are a
hassle.
