regarding binaries in/usr/libexec/podcastproducer

I am a bit confused about whether we can use the binaries in this folder(/usr/libexec/podcastproducer)? These binaries provide very basic but useful features offered in Quicktime Pro. Some of them are used in compound actions within pcastaction, but cannot be directly called as distinct actions. And some like qttrim are omitted entirely. I had been told at a Podcast Producer Meetup from an Apple developer that I should not directly call the binaries because they may change on a software update.

I think this is really limiting. For example, pcastaction does not refer to Quicktime Pro's trim functionality, although it exists as a working binary "qttrim". I had been told that I should write a custom script using QTKit to access the trim functionality even though this binary works!

Another example, is that I might want to call qttrackadd directly for adding a qt text file for captioning. pcastaction does not support this simple function directly although it does use it in several compound actions.

Should I not call these binaries directly (sans pcastaction) because they may change names or functionality? If I don't stray from pcastaction, I will likely benefit when update paths to a binary changes or parameters change. It would be great if either Apple allowed us to call these actions "directly" through pcastaction, or gave us a green light to call them sans pcastaction.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I had been under the impression that Quicktime Pro's full suite of features was available via Podcast Producer. Some guidance would be most helpful.

Thanks.
