I think you are referring to Carbon applications using Open Transport for PAP. The PAP backend uses the Darwin appletalk code.

I'm really curious what it means to 'exec the pap backend'. Could someone point me to some sample code which does this? I was under the impression that PAP endpoints are not supported on OS X.
