If you want to use the printing system for this purpose, your code can
exec the pap backend, using the standard pipes to send the font query
to the printer and retrieve the results.
I'm really curious what it means to 'exec the pap backend'. Could someone point me to some sample code which does this? I was under the impression that PAP endpoints are not supported on OS X.
