Newbie PDE Questions

I want to start with writing PDEs.

OK, first I copy the whole folder /Developer/Examples/Printing/Printer
into my home folder. Too bad, for printing apps there is "App Samples
README.txt", for printers there is no such thing. What is badly missing
is a simple ReadMe explaining how to set up, compile and run the examples.

But there are two project files, "SDKModules.pbproj" and
"PrinterSDK.pbproj". Hmm, they both seem to do similar stuff, e.g.
SamplePM and PrintQuality. Which one should I choose to get me started?

OK, lets try to build the samples. Everything compiles fine, but I cannot
run the code, since there are no executables.

From the docs (Extending Printing Dialogs) it seems that all PDEs must
reside inside /Library/Printers to be found when printing. Neither of the
projects puts the generated output there (but inside some local "build"
folder), so I copy the generated .plugins there.

But when I launch TextEdit and open the print dialog, nothing happens.
Well, at least none of my build plugins are activated.

I'm lost. What should I do to get the plugins activated when printing?
