cups filter failure when cupsRasterOpen() is called

Hi,

I have a cups filter that converts a raster to Calcomp raster format to drive a film output device.

When printing certain files from illustrator 10 (some files work fine) I get the following messages when cupsRasterOpen() is called. The first two messages are from my filter. The last three messaged appear to be a result of the failed call to cupsRasterOpen(). Control never returns to my filter, as a diagnostic message that shows the return from cupsRasterOpen() is never printed.

Print Center says "There was a timeout error while sending data to the printer", but the filter has not written a lick of data to the printer yet, as it has to return from cupsRasterOpen() before it can do anything.

Here are the error messages:

Jun 30 22:59:53 tiBook CalComp_EcoPRO: running rastertooyoecopro

Jun 30 22:59:53 tiBook CalComp_EcoPRO: calling cupsRasterOpen()

Jun 30 15:59:54 tiBook WindowServer[184]: _CGXGetDisplayShmem: Unauthorized user

Jun 30 22:59:54 tiBook CalComp_EcoPRO: kCGErrorIllegalArgument : initCGDisplayState: cannot map display interlocks.

Jun 30 22:59:54 tiBook CalComp_EcoPRO: kCGErrorIllegalArgument : CGSGetDisplayBounds (display 0)

What is going wrong?

Paul
