I personally wouldn't use LPD if I could avoid it. Have you tried to use the Socket/JetDirect connectivity?

If you are configuring throught the Web interface, use "socket://<ipaddress>/" instead of "lpd://<ipaddress>". The advantage that socket has over LPD is that the computer can start sending data to the printer immediately, instead of staging the entire print job before sending anything to the printer.
