waiteof resource for Device URI

Hi All,

Can somebody please tell what is the meaning of the setting
"waiteof" resource to "on" or "off" to the device uri of the printer while
calling the CUPS backend ? Problem is that when I set
this to "off" I am able to query all the printers but when I set it to "on"
it hangs for some printers but queries other printers
successfully.

Any help / pointer to some link or reference would be highly
appreciated.
