Both CUPS and Tioga are appropriate. CUPS is much easier to code for (in my opinion), but has functionality problems on 10.2 (most Adobe apps won't be able to print). Tioga wo!

You just need to write a PPD file and a filter. The DDK looks like a good starting point for writing a PPD if you have not done that before. I'd suggest writing your filter from scratch instead of based off something in GIMP-Print. It's not hard.

OutputBins is a relevant sample. It shows how to write a PDE that changes settings for a PPD based driver.
