Re: renaming classes

Thanks. I also discovered a Rename command in the Project menu. It also looks possible to rename a file using the Info panel. All of these methods yield the same result: an alert stating that I cannot rename the file with no explanation. I have made sure that the file that I'm trying to rename is closed (not busy). I think that I have to go back to my original idea of directly modifying the project.pbxproj file.

I didn't look closely at earlier messages in this thread -- couldn't you also delete the file from the project, rename it in Finder, then drag it back into the project? I suspect modifying the pbxproj file would also work, but if you're fussy about staying within the tools, this should work.

I've never had a problem using PB to rename the file. It really "should" work. Are you sure you have write permissions on the file? Are you sure PB is looking at the right file in the right directory? (It's not showing up in red, right?)

I also will need to rename the custom classes in my nib file.

Does Project Builder/Interface Builder accommodate the renaming of classes? Is there a recommended way to do this? Or, should I try to avoid ever renaming a class?

AFAIK the only way is to do a global search and replace, followed by manually renaming any files that are named after the class.
