Re: (no subject)

Faking the missing MI commands shouldn't be necessary, you should be able to just build our gdb sources as a cross debugger for your target. If that doesn't work it should be relatively simple to make it work. The problem will come in when PB starts sending your cross debugger commands that are not appropriate for an embedded target (and not sending commands necessary to a cross target.) For that you really need some way to plug into PB and alter the command sequences it sends to be appropriate for your target. There is no way to do that at present - so far as I know.

As previous discussions showed it, it is complicated because Apple's GDB uses a modified MI interface so that PB can work properly. From what was previously said on the topic, you'd need to have a layer that fakes the missing MI commands, if possible at all.

I'd be interested to know whether you succeed in writing such a bridge.

I would like to debug a embedded target using project builder. Is it
possible?

Can I switch the GDB that project builder uses or has Apple tweaked GDB
to such an extent that a non-apple GDB won't work with project builder?

Could I recompile apples gdb with the BFD library and patches for my
target? What would be involved in doing this?
