Re: Processing large images with CI / QC without loss of data ?

I just noticed that images are resized according to available
texture memory,
i.e. 2048 x 2048 before being passed into QC.
Is there any way around that limitation, if at a performance
penalty ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this a hardware limitation of most graphics cards? Motion has the same limitation on texture size except with the Nvidia 6800 Ultra it can handle 4K textures. I assume Quartz Composer has the same limitations as Motion....

I suspect tiling will be the only solution...

Core Image can do automatic tiling to process images too big. So if you pass CIImages to QC, and use the composition to do exclusively Core Image operations, it should work fine.
