Re: core image filters on ibook with radeon 9550

Just to let you all know, I am running Motion 1 with no problems on one of these same machines. The discs for Motion 2 have gone wandering, so I can't try that until they are brought back. You definitely want as much ram as you can afford and/or fit in whichever computer you are using Motion on.

I finally got time to test the new ibook model with the Radeon 9550. I
loaded up my Quartonian patch, some other Quartz Composer files and the
Motion compatibility checker on a USB stick and visited the Apple store

it ran core image filters in hardware.

The new ibook IS completely core image accelerated. Quartonian ran at a
fair clip even on 640×480 clips. Motion compatibility checker said yep
this machine is supported.

I tested quite a few filters on 640x480 quicktimes, most ran at a fair
clip. Some of course booged down but it looks like they are all running
in hardware on this machine.

Pretty good news for anyone who wants a cheap portable machine to use
core image or quartz composer files on... and in fact one of these would
be faster than a 12" powerbook for core image stuff (the fx5200, less
said the better).
