is there a way for a QC comp to query in what environment it is being
run?
ie to find out if it is running as a quicktime or as a quartz
composition?
this would be very useful for example going into a "random" mode
instead
of keypress aware depending on the context?
you could set the "random mode" to be controlled by a bool flag,
initially set to true, then make any keyboard events have a side
effect of setting that flag to false, although this is a fairly dodgy
solution

also useful would be the ability to find out if it is being run under
GWorlds or Visual Context for throttling effects or geometry to
maintain
a constant framerate?
