I don't think there is any other way than what you're doing right now
Here's an ill-defined but perhaps useful idea: put a core image buffer
in the iterator, and attach it to the output of the image from text
patch, then configure the image from text patch so it only gets data
once, when the 'done' signal from the RSS feed goes high.
