I think one of the disconnects folks are having involves the fact that sprites and billboards (and no surprise, cubes) are inherently square surfaces, and a lot of text chunks are typically displayed in aspects much wider than tall 9in western writing systems.)

Pierre's right (of course), it does work to 'hook through' the width controls when appropriate...I'm getting used to it after a bit.

For what it's worth, I've feature-requested a patch that puts what would amount to an NSTextView in a generator...allowing all the nice alignment, multiple fonts, shadows, and other goodness to be rendered to a billboard or cube side.
