Regarding threading, QT and Composer:
I too am trying to thread some QT code that uses qtz
files. Definitely non-trivial. And perhaps beyond
the scope of this mailing list.
However, for starters, this document tell us that QT
movie playback must be done in the main thread:

My next post to this list is about exporting qtz files
such that I can do it safely in a threaded situation.
Should be within the scope of this list (I hope).
