while this is probably a reasonable approach, another way is to "capture" the vdig component with your own which does nothing but pass through component calls, intercepting only those with data you might need.

how you do this with sound at this level, I'm not sure on OSX - I think it has sinp components, but I'm not sure.

(oh, the "capture" approach should work fine for your SGChannel idea too...)

I'm guessing you're trying to filter/watermark the data somehow... if you're looking for general distribution, the first approach (capture the input components) would cover apps that don't use the SG.
