ConvertMovieSndTrack example questions

I have been working with the ConvertMovieSndTrack example so that I can process MPEG4 audio, however, being new to several of these APIs I haven't been very successful in being able to limit the output of this conversion to specific durations.

The code will go off and get the duration of the source media and then convert the entire thing a media sample at a time. After adding some code to specify a shorter duration I have found that it kinda works but generally still produces a second or two more sound that was requested. I'm guessing that it is the job of the SoundConverterFillBufferDataProc to limit appropriately but I'm not certain. If SoundCoverterFillBuffer supposed to handle any of this?
