Re: Cineon & Deep Image Support

Hi there,

I was wondering if any knew if there was a Quicktime extension that supported loading of Cineon files?

I wrote one, it is only very basic, only converts to 8bit per channel, and there is currently no way to configure the film LUT to use, it is not ColorSync aware. It is not up to film production work, I wrote it so I could open Cineon files with Picture Viewer for testing, and import sequences in to QuickTime player to scale down and compress. If you want a copy send me an email off the list, I have a version for OS 9 and a version for OS X.

Also - are there any examples anywhere of using the deep image format of quicktime? There isn't a whole lot of info on it but it sounds like it might be useful.

With QuickTime 4 and later you can allocate 16bit per channel GWorld with k64ARGBPixelFormat or k48RGBPixelFormat, I have not done any testing to see what codecs work with them, mine doesn't, but it wouldn't be hard to add support.

Glenn.
