QuickTime playback goes white

Here's the problem:

Intermittently, when playing a QuickTime movie, the output goes white, and
the white output won't go away unless we reboot the computer.

The configuration is not typical:
Director 8.0 running on a Titanium is playing the quicktime file, and the
playback that goes white is being output to the Titanium's S-Video port, set
up as a second monitor.

We are using QuickTime 5.0.2 and MacOS 9.2.2.

Here's the question:

Why would the QuickTime playback go white? Any suggestions on tests we
could do to isolate the cause, or at least to recover without rebooting?

I understand that this in not directly a QuickTime programming question, but
I suspect someone on this list has seen the "white screen" problem and
debugged it.

Thanks,

Herb
