quicktime decodes (and plays) movies to bright?!

Hi,

QuickTime player and decoder (using in my own application) plays every
movie to bright. If I play the same movie (doesn't matter what container
or codec, avi, mpeg cinepak sorenson) in for example VLC the movie
displays correcly (somewhat darker, screenshot here

In QuickTime player: Movies -> Show Video Controls does NOT exist!
(v6.5.2).

Does anybody know what might be the problem here?
