I decided to give the ActiveX control a shot. When I try to add the control to my form, I get the following error:

"File or assembly name AxInterop.QTOControlLib.dll, or one of its dependencies, was not found."

Looking in the Debug folder for my project, I see "Interop.QTOControlLib.dll" and "Interop.QTOLibrary.dll", but the project has added an additional reference to "AxInterop.QTOControlLib.dll", which seems to be missing.

Whenever you add the "Apple QuickTime Control 2.0" to the VS.NET Toolbox and place an instance on a Form, the following interop DLLs should be created in the project bin or bin\Debug folder:

AxInterop.QTOControlLib.dll
Interop.QTOControlLib.dll
Interop.QTOLibrary.dll

and the following references should be automatically added to the project:

AxQTOControlLib
QTOControlLib
QTOLibrary

I'm not sure why the reference to "AxInterop.QTOControlLib.dll" should be missing in your case, but if you click on the AxQTOControlLib reference in Solution Explorer, open the Properties window and the check the Path field, it may give you a clue as to where it is expecting to find this DLL.

Otherwise, I would suggest removing the "Apple QuickTime Control 2.0" from the Toolbox, quitting VS.NET and starting again with a fresh project.

Which version of VS.NET are you using?

John.
