Re: iTunes 6.0.x Purchased Music Playback Issues

I did discover that some were actually using 10.2.8 and updated to iTunes 6.0.1, which is a booby-trap into a forced OS upgrade situation (since QuickTime 7 only runs on 10.3.9 or higher.) Kinda think there should be a pre-install warning about that for 10.2 users. But I believe all others that already had QT 7.0.3 eventually got things worked out by performing the 'de-authorize/re-authorize entire system' acrobatics.

I've been getting some reports of this issue too. Users can play the
(authorised) songs in iTunes 6.0.1, but not in my (QuickTime-based)
application - they just get the 'authorisation' prompt (this is under QT7).
They report also that after authorising, the files do play in my app, but
they play silence.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I've suggested (to the latest
person to report the problem) that they try de-authorizing and then
re-authorizing their computer - no report back as yet. Any other ideas?

Subject: iTunes 6.0.x Purchased Music Playback Issues

I'm getting increased reports of authorization issues for purchased
iTunes music since the QuickTime 7.0.3 and iTunes 6.0.1 updates.
Users report that many or all of their music won't authorize post-
update. Even when the iTunes auth dialog says it is authorized, the
tracks still don't play in QuickTime Player, etc. Some users had
success with de-authorizing their entire computer, and then re-
authorizing it, but that does not work for some. Something with the
updates corrupts the authorization system. It's a wider spread issue
than I thought.
