Syncing Audio to Movie using SetMovieAudioContext

Hello,

I am trying to improve performance/synchronization and was wondering if I use SetMovieAudioContext to set a movie's audio context to a particular audio device will the movie automatically use that audio device as the sync source when playing the movie back?

Ideally I would like to be able to say to Quicktime "here is the master time, sync to it!" from a callback. I need this because the audio is being handled outside of Quicktime so that it is easily editable and Quicktime is being used solely for its video capabilities. If Quicktime can count samples from the audio device using SetMovieAudioContext and sync its video, that should suffice.
