Thread-topic: Play QuickTime in Windows Media Player ?
Mark,
You can use the Quicktime Alternative Codec:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm which will
allow Windows Media Player or any DirectShow based program to play .mov
files.
For the ActiveX question, Quicktime SDK includes a nice ActiveX control
that supports playing and manipulating Quicktime files. So you could
wrap that control to get any functionalty you needed.
Hope that helps
Brian

Subject: Re: Play QuickTime in Windows Media Player ?
Folks.
We are feeding Quicktime proxies into someone else's PC based
application which is using Windows Media to playback movies.
I wonder if someone who is familiar with the PC Platform could advise
whether there is any way (3rd party plug in?) to play QuickTime (eg
Offline RT PhotoJPEG) using Windows Media PLayer technology.
I see the from microsoft site that it may be possible to play QuickTime
2.0 movies with windows media player - what exactly does
this mean ? Is it possible for us to make movies which conform to
this 'old' standard ?
Also, this PC system also uses ActiveX to popup a 'handler' for certain
objects which are passed to it. Is it possible to play QuickTime on a
PC using ActiveX? or somehow via explorer with a QT plug in ?
Sorry to be a little vague, but PCs really are not my thing...:-)
Cheers
Mark Gilbert.
