I've been investigating the sequence grabber related sample code, in order to do some realtime computer vision processing. Comparing BrideOfMungGrab with WhackedTV, I see BrideOfMungGrab using ~25% CPU, versus 100% CPU with WhackedTV (iBook 1ghz, 10.4.5, iSight). Looking with Shark it seems that WhackedTV is rendering the OpenGL view in software - should it be possible to use the hardware a bit more effectively with the WhackedTV sample, or do I have to stick with the old GWorlds? Matt, Using Core Video, Visual Contexts, OpenGL rendering and Core Image are all subject to the limitations of the graphics hardware you have on your machine, so your milage may (and will) vary. I suspect that's what you're running into on your iBook. It's not out of the ordinary for QT developers wanting to use these new APIs will set certain baseline HW requirements or write more robust code that has the ability to fall back to GWorlds when it makes more sense. regards, edward Edward Agabeg WWDR Engineer QuickTime and Audio Worldwide Developer Relations Apple http://www.apple.com/developer http://www.apple.com/quicktime -- This message was sent from a personal account -- -- All views are mine and not necessarily shared by my employer -- |
