RE: Codecs info and exportcomponent settings

I have a better understanding of all this now so I can simplify my
question:

I realize that all compressors have common parameters like framerate,
spatial quality, etc. It seems that I can set them by using
'MovieExportGetSettingsAsAtomContainer', retrieve the atoms that store
the SpatialSettings, temporalSettings and DataRateSettings, set them and
put them back.
Here is a link that I found useful:
http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1147.html

But I have still an openned question: How can I know about the unique
parameters of a codec and set them? For instance in the Quicktime
application, if you try to export 'Movie to Quicktime Movie' and go in
the video settings, there is this option button that display a different
dialog box for each codec (Tiff, sorenson, 3ivx is you installed it,
etc.) and allow you for some of them to set new parameters. So how can I
retrieve these options and how can I set them?

Thanks a lot for your help, I am really stuck from now!
