effect problem with QT 6.5 on Windows

So, I've made a slide show movie with JPEG samples and dissolve effects. If I play it on Windows with QuickTime 6.5, I don't see any dissolves. (I don't have access to a Mac with less than QT 7.) Dissolve effects aren't that new, are they? I don't see anything relevant in the QuickTime 7 for Windows Update Guide.
