I think VP3 is far superior to Sorenson, that is, the Sorenson that comes as an option with QT 5. I don't have the stand alone app. but the Sorenson export options with QT 5 just rips up any graphics over video. I am amazed at how small the file sizes are with VP3. I have a 1.5 gig trailer that compresses to 50K and can play 640x480 or 2x 320x240 which is the native size and it looks perfect. I have QT 6 but haven't installed it yet since I don't think the people we distribute to would have it installed on their machines so maybe that gives some better options with sorenson.

or is it just that I need to buy the Sorenson app and that will solve everything?

That is the downfall using On2. The video quality is not as good as Sorenson.
Sorenson is the standard for high quality video. I would dump On2 and switch for Sorenson.
